“Homeopathy is the second largest form of medicine and the fastest growing in the world.” (According to the World Health Report in 2006).
Natural Method of Healing
Homeopathic medicine is a natural method of healing. It was founded by a German physician, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. It has been recognized for over 200 years as a safe and effective means of treating both serious and minor ailments.
When you see a Homeopath for a consultation, you are treated as a whole person, rather than as a person with a certain disease. Just as exercise keeps your body strong - and makes you feel well - Homeopathy enhances your natural defenses and vital force, and helps restore you body to harmony and balance.
Today Homeopathy is accepted in many countries as an authentic and reliable form of medical treatment. A Homeopath will not diagnose illness, rather they will address the underlying causes of symptoms.
Laws of Homeopathy
The word Homeopathy is Greek meaning “similar suffering”. Hahnemann, the founder of Homeopathy, explored and expanded these laws for the medical sceicne of Homeopathy.
1. Law of Similars
2. Minimum dose
3. Totality of a person
Samuel Hahnemann wrote many books on Homeopathic philosophy. "The Organon of the Medical Art" first published in 1810, lay down the foundations of Homeopathic principles. As a forward thinker, Hahnemann early on recognized the importance of cleanliness and living in a clean and wholesome environment.
Homeopathy is based on the pharmacological law called the “Law of Similars”. This Law explains the Law of Nature that every substance that can harm, can also heal.
For instance, exposure to a raw, cut onion may cause burning, itching, weeping of the eyes and running of the nose. The Homeopathic remedy, Allium cepa, made from the onion, is effective in treating hay fever, watery eyes and nasal discharge.
